1. What is Multimedia all about?

It involves the integration of different media such as text, sound, video, images, two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) graphics and animation; coupled with the power of interactive digital technology to offer information with impact.

2. How does Multimedia differ from programming?

Multimedia is different in the sense that it is a creative field where as programming is a logical field. Programming is constrained to a set of predetermined rules and procedures whereas Multimedia is all about unleash your creativity and doing things differently. Also one must add that Multimedia is a lot less cumbersome than programming because it involves creativity.

3. What are the salary levels that Multimedia professionals get?

Multimedia professionals are in short supply. The average salary that a Multimedia professional gets to start with is around Rs.5000/- and goes multifold depending on experience and skill sets. Salaries of animators in India have grown by 33% over the last three years. At the entry level, animators could earn between Rs.7000/- and Rs.10,000 per month.

9. What kind of educational background is required? Would there be programming involved?

Learning Multimedia does not require programming or mathematical skills. It does not even require a background in fine arts - although that would be an advantage for you. It does require ability for create visualization and a keen eye for detail. However some amount of scripting will be involved in the advanced stages of Multimedia development.
